ALL ELEMENTARY EVENTS!!! As part of our restructuring, we have been encouraging elementary families to attend events at any of our schools. Participating in events at other elementary schools will allow students and families to explore our campuses, make new friends and learn more about what the district has to offer. We have a number of fun events coming up in February! Our PTOs are also working together with district administration to coordinate additional larger event(s) for elementary families in late spring or summer. A survey will be sent out in the coming weeks to gather interest and gain insights from families on how we can bring our schools together and make this transition a positive one.

CULVER'S AT THE KM SHOWCASE!!! Thanks to our friends at Culver's in Wales, you can now pre-order boxed dinners for the KM Showcase/4K Fair! THE SHOWCASE, OUR LARGEST 4K-12 ENROLLMENT FAIR & COMMUNITY OPEN HOUSE EVENT, IS OPEN TO ALL RESIDENTS/NON-RESIDENTS ON FEBRUARY 18TH FROM 5:30-7PM @ KMHS. Culver's will be offering pre-orders for: single cheeseburger ($5), chicken tender ($5), or crispy chicken sandwich ($6) boxed meals with fries! They will also be pre-ordering custard dishes ($2) and providing sprinkles, Oreos and M&M's. Culver's will serve the meals and provide a variety of condiments and toppings. KM EXPLORE INFO NIGHT JANUARY 21ST @DOUSMAN ELEMENTARY!!! KM Explore focuses on meeting the individual needs of all students by creating social capital and having our staff, families, and community partners support what kids need. We foster a growth mindset where it is okay to fail or make a mistake. That’s part of the process of learning. We want students to develop the habits that are going to make them successful citizens, such as persistence, managing impulsivity, and listening with empathy and understanding. Relationships are very important and we hope they will have the tools that are going to help them take the next step. AUTHOR VISIT!!! We are thrilled to share an exciting event that took place in our KM elementary libraries this month! Our K-3 grade students had the wonderful opportunity to meet best-selling author Diane Nienas. She shared her children's book series, Living Life with Leo and the adventures of her son, Leo, a boy who uses a wheelchair. Students were encouraged to celebrate differences, embrace challenges, and lead with kindness. Her books can be purchased on Amazon. We also have them available for book checkout in our school libraries. This event was organized by the district library media specialists who work to promote the love of reading to our students. Later in the year, students in grades 4-5 will have their own author visit.

WALES FINE ARTS DAY!!! Wales Campus held their fine arts day, with a kick off by the high school marching band and a morning assembly. Students got to choose a track of one art, physical education, music, and drama workshop for their activities. Mr. Doug from the Waukesha Civic Theater performed an improv comedy sketch. We ended the day with Black Sheep MKE a rock cover band and sang our “No Bully Club” song at the finale!

JOIN LYBA BASKETBALL!!! Register by 10/27 for Laser Youth Basketball. All students in grades 1-8 are welcome. The season begins in December and concludes in February. Grades 3-8 will practice one night per week with Saturday morning games and will be followed by a season ending tournament. LEADERSHIP AT KMHS!!! The high school leadership class visited KM Explore to share books on leadership they created for a young audience, using Book Creator. The high school students had the opportunity to present their learning and creativity while observing how second and third graders engaged with the content. You can walk through Explore and then have the opportunity to spend time in a specific classroom or with a specific age level. Prospective students are welcome to attend. KM Explore will be moving to Dousman Elementary for the 2026-27 school year.
